Every Sólas Naturals product – from its candles, soaps, lip balms, body balms and salt scrubs – is hand-made using all-natural ingredients.
The word Sólas is derived from the Gaelic word for light. It’s a nod to the company’s birthplace in Nova Scotia and of the deeply rooted cultures there. Close to the sea and sheltered by mountain ranges on either side, the Valley that Sólas Naturals calls home has mild temperatures and fertile glacial sedimentary soil. This rich agricultural community is also home to a strong organic and fair trade movement that makes it easy for Sólas to source good ingredients.
Thought is always the first thing on any list of Sólas Naturals’ ingredients. If Sólas cannot understand what something is, what it does, or where it comes from, they do not use it. For instance, soy and other natural waxes used in Sólas natural candle products are renewable resources and do not contain harmful petrochemicals. Sólas hand-poured candles are made from a blend of soy, palm, beeswax and other natural waxes and oils for a non-toxic, biodegradable alternative to paraffin. They are scented with all-natural fragrance blends with a focus on pure essential oils. Wicks are made of cotton and unbleached paper. Containers can be recycled with food tins. They burn cleanly and completely for 24-hours with great scent dispersal.

Sólas master soapmakers have created luxurious 100% natural, hand poured soaps. These rich soaps are made from Olive, Organic Palm, Coconut, and Castor oils using the time honored “Cold Process Method.” Reduced water content delivers a harder, longer lasting, more concentrated bar. Organic Shea butter provides extra moisture and a satiny feel. Sólas natural soap contain no artificial preservatives. All-natural scents are used with a focus on pure essential oils. Sólas lip balms are handmade from organic Beeswax, organic Shea Butter, and organic Jojoba, Coconut, Olive, Grapeseed and Castor oils. Only essential oils and natural flavors are used. Sólas mineral-rich sea salts are blended with moisturizing oils and essential oils for fragrance. These scrubs gently exfoliate the skin, leaving it soft, supple, stimulated and glowing.
In short, Sólas considers the whole picture when making its natural products: from where the raw materials come from, to the quality of the ingredients, to how the products are made and the people who make them.
